studying=nauseating=vomitting???

hurmm...

have u ever been in this kind of situation? --> felt like nauseating n vomitting after a long day of studying too much... or after a day with 4 long lectures of which in most, u could absorbed everything and at the end of the day, u just felt like wanna throw-up!!

well, i do.. spashly during this time around... xm... hahhhaa.. prepPy me eh? huhuhu.. but i just cant help it.. so, here's some facts that i've just recently learned...

hmm... vomitting is triggered by a few things.. over distention of ur stomach (that's when u eat WAY TOO much), emetic drugs (which'll irritate some receptors on our stomach which then will send off some info to the brain... to a site that's called -->chemoreceptor trigger zone in the medulla.. by the way, medulla is the distal part of our brain), motion sickness, psychic stimuli or even a really bad odour may be the factor.

the in the situation that ive describe earlier.. i believe that its the psychic stimuli.... u get too much info into ur brain... n almost "distend" ur brain... n u felt as if a lil bit more will make u xplode n muntah!! hahhahaa.

n the act of vomitting:
~u'll begin by taking a deep breath
~then ur upper oesophageal sphinter relaxes n opens (+ the raising of the hyoid bone n larynx)
~followed by closing of the glottis
~our soft palate is raised (to aviod the content from entering the nasal)
~then only our abdominal muscle and the diaphragm will contract--> to create a high intra-gastric pressure; facilite expulsion of the gastric content...
~ and finally, the lower oesophageal sphinter relaxes completely
then only the expulsion of the gastric content may tak place......

well... n do u know that vomitting of the content of upper gastrointestinal tract (upper GIT refers to from the mouth ->the duodenum) which is mainly acidic may lead to a condition called metabolic alkalosis?? this means that the pH of ur blood has gone slightly higher (alkaline) than it it usually does... n bare in mind that the pH of our blood shud always be kept at about 7.4... if not, the cellular activity in our body will be disrupted n u dont wanna know what'll happen! ;p so, in this situation, respiratory system may take the lead to compensate this by reducing the rate of breathing... so that the level of carbon dioxide in our body is kept at a slightly higher... u do know that CO2 is acidic in nature rite? so, common sense says that alkaline+acid=neutral! hehehhee

hmmm.... i dont know why im writing this... but i guess i just need a time out... huhuhu.. n now i can get back to my books again... ^_^

owh!! exam in less than 2 weeks time...
God... please guide me and give me the strenght to keep me going... ameen..
