HIV-part1

currently, im revising on this topic. one word for me to describe this Human Immunodeficiency Virus would be ~ genius. Subhanallah...

really, it's so small, n yet may cause a catastrophic effects once it infects a person. hijacking one group of cells that i can say, one of the most important of all in regulating the body's immune system (the T-Helper Lymphocyte), it hides from being elliminated. in these cells, the virus replicates itself and while doing so, it will destroy these T-cells. n let me remind you, that HIV is a retrovirus. its genetic make-up is from RNA ~ which is far more 'fragile' and 'unstable' than DNA. another way to interprete it, its genetic code may change everytime they replicate. which make it hard for our immune system to keep up to fight against it. n it renders the existing immune cells useless too. A retrovirus replicates its self via reverse transcriptase to make a more stable DNA which will be incorporated into human DNA. And just so u know, they replicate themselves using OUR i mean HUMAN's genetic material. so, all they need is just some kind of instuctions on their RNA for the proteins that they need to survive and attack our immune system. bijak kann??

these T-helper cells that the HIV hijack are suppose to give out signals to other cells of our immune system in order to fight against infections. n so, since this HIV is invading and at the same time destroying out T-cells, how do we suppose to fight against them? and other infections...? hmmm....

so.. what happens next? at a much later stage, when the immune system has gotten really weak... the person will start to be infected by many bugs. and this stage is what we call AIDS (acquired immuno deficiency syndrome). some people may not develope this condition. why..? only Allah knows. they believe that different individuals have different ability to adapt and fight againts the HIV and they might be infected with a strain which is "less" agressive.... (is it?... ) And ppl with AIDS will get all the infections that normal people did not usually get. they even get sick with the bugs that normally present in human's body. these are what we call opportunistic infections. owh, and they also get cancers that is rare. mcm cancer of the brain. so what about brain cancer? urmm... sbb, in the brain, we dont normally get a metastatic or cancerous ones. brain tumours are usually benign. meaning: brain tumour normally dont spread to other site. that is why it is pelik to get a brain cancer.

and, for the treatment, there's actually no cure for AIDS/HIV. at present, drugs which exist are just to slow the development of the AIDS. and to treat them symptomaticly.

n to me, personally, the only way to treat this condition is to prevent it. well, they say prevention is better than cure. aite? i mean, we all know how does this virus spread right? Intravenous Drug use (sharing needles), un-safe sexual practices (homosexuals are at the greatest risk, as well as those who r having multiple partners and not using protection.) and less commonly via blood transfussions and needle stick injury in the hospitals...

but somehow.. i do think that it is a way of which Allah teach us, balasan nya bile we dont comply to His guidance. Even in the Quran pon ade state that some of wut we did on the earth akan dapat balasan nye di dunia ni juge... but i dare not to comment much on it as i dont have enough knowledge on it.

hmmm.... so think before we are tempted to do things that is obviously wrong.

ps: ill sambung on part 2 at a later stage. tak sempat lah.... so many things to cover pulak. ;p
